I don’t think that I would do that in the books. It would change too much of what we’ve seen in the past for comfort, and practically make her a different character.
In some other medium, such as a film, it might be a decision that would work. And I suppose you could zap Sue with a make-brain-smarter ray or something—but that would seem artificial to me.
